I Survived!

22 Jul

I survived a liver transplant! It took about 10 hours for my part and about 17 hours for my mom’s. They took 30% of my left liver and took out my mom’s entire liver and replace my 30% into her. Before surgery, they shot me up with an epidermal and then gave me some chemical that made me fall asleep in about 30 seconds. The next thing I knew I woke up to a tube being take out of my throat. I thought I was going to die!Though the first few days were super painful and uncomfortable, I am now feeling so much better. The human body is amazing! I am about to be discharged from the hospital in a few days. My staples will be taken out today. I am flying home in 3 days from Japan to Los Angeles. I can’t wait to get home and get back to playing music and eating fun vegan foods. Unfortunately, I get a little uncomfortable after eating but I do enjoy it while it’s happening.

As far as my emotional status regarding my mother’s disease, I feel peace. Although my mother is doing much better, she is not “out of the woods”. I am happy to know that I have done all I can. There is nothing else I can do. Worrying doesn’t help! The best thing I can do it heal so I can move on with my life. I am soooo happy this is all coming to an end. Now I can’t wait till Xmas when I can enjoy working out a lot and drinking a cocktail every once in a while.

I’ll bet you’ll think twice before ordering the Monk fish liver.
